Our Animals
These are the members of Samson's Squad looking for their forever home!
Sweeney
Hi! My name is Sweeney, and I am just the goodest boy, can't you tell?!
I'm only 9 months old, but I've seen and been through a lot in my short life! My siblings and I found ourselves malnourished in a rural Texas animal control with Parvo and coccidia at about 6 weeks old. These diseases are known as puppy killers, but thank goodness Samson's Sanctuary scooped us all up and that we all had the will to survive and thrive! And that is exactly what we are all doing now, thriving!
Only except my siblings and other friends all got adopted and are thriving in their furever homes and I'm still waiting. I got adopted when I was a tiny baby, and I guess the family didnt take puppy responsibility seriously. They promised to do the training work a puppy requires no matter what, and that they would love me unconditionally but I guess they changed their mind. They returned me 3 weeks later. I don't understand what I did wrong! No one ever taught me how to be a good boy in a home, I just needed a fair chance and time to adjust. I have been in a few foster homes and even a board and training program since then, and everyone who cares for me loves me so much. I have learned lots of good boy manners since I was returned and I'm ready to find my family!
I also healed from 2 emergency surgeries on my elbow, and even that couldn't bring me down! I'm already back to running and playing on the beach and everywhere else I'm allowed to!
I'm a 50 lb bundle of love. All I really want to do is shower you with kisses, snuggle, go on fun walks or hikes, and show you how incredibly smart I am. Puzzles, games, tricks...no problem! And I'm not trying to brag, but did I already mention I'm smart? Because I'm also potty trained and ask nicely to go outside too. AND I like to sing opera. Check me out on our IG & tiktok! @SamsonsSanctuary
Even though I'm a playful puppy, I also love to snuggle up with you on a comfy couch and watch a show or movie while I chew on my favorite toy. And I love to have playdates with my doggie friends! However before I made it to LA my brothers who were bigger than me used to beat me up for my food, and due to that trauma I don't like to share food and would prefer to be your only puppy love. I've really been waiting my WHOLE LIFE for you! If you want to be my forever family, I promise I'll be your very best pal. Pretty please apply to foster or adopt me, and you'll find out how awesome I really am!
Cade
Looking for a giant lap dog? Cade is a sweet 2.5 year old boy who was seen getting dumped in Azusa Canyon. His microchip led back to an owner who said they returned him to the breeder they purchased him from. We don't know who dumped this sweet baby boy but we do know he deserves way better! He is loving life in his foster home, loves making new doggie friends, and the biggest love bug you'll ever meet! He has been searching for over 6 months for his furever home!
Cade loves to go on adventures such as hikes, swims, car rides, he's down for whatever! He is also loving learning new things with his trainer, he's such a smart boy. Cade would be the best addition to your family!!

Leia Leashwalker
Hello friends! My name is Leia Leashwalker! I’m a 15 week old German Shepard who is looking for a new home & you’re my only hope!
My favorite tasks are playing outside, watching movies, listening to music, snuggling my moose and playing with my puzzle!
Adopt me today and may the force be with you! ❤️
Little Leia Leashwalker was found by one of our super fosters after she was abandoned in a busy, scary, shopping center parking lot! She was only 7 lbs and 7 weeks old when she was found, who could do such a thing to such an innocent baby?! And to make matters worse, the poor girl had coccidia!
We are so happy little Leia is safe in her foster home now, but she is looking for her furever! She is a German Shepherd puppy so she will likely grow to a medium/large size. She is a sweet, playful girl with both people and other dogs.
Spud
Spud is an 11 year old chihuahua who has been with us for 1 whole year! Don't let his age fool you, he has a whole lot of life in him! He loves to go for walks, play, and roll in the grass! He is spunky, smart, and a sucker for chicken and squeaky toys. This funny little man is guaranteed to make you laugh and once he's your friend, he's your best friend! Spud will require an experienced home that can be patient with his quirky personality. Check his videos out on our instagram and tiktok! @SamsonsSanctuary
Please don't make him wait any longer, say you'll apply to take him home today!
London
London is a sweet 11 month old boy who was found as a stray and brought into a high kill shelter. He is currently 60 lbs of wiggles and love and is hamming it up at his amazing foster home! Here's what his foster pawrents say about him:
"London is a big goofball. He loves walks, cuddles, toys, and treats. We call him a cuddle monster, he’ll climb up and share a pillow with you in bed and sleeps through the night and well into morning. He is bright and attentive, he learned how to sit and lay down in one day, and mastered potty training in 3 days. He loves food and treats as any puppy would and loves a cheesy bone to chew. He is full of energy at play time! He sits perfectly for his harness to go on, and constantly gets stopped on walks by passerby saying how gorgeous he is. His wrinkly sharpei face and pit bull personality are truly the best of both worlds. He is one sweet baby dog."
He was treated for mange, allergies, and ear infections, and we are so happy he is finally getting the care he needed. He has a very active play style, is a very lively, happy boy. He is good with other dogs and would love to give all his snuggles and kisses to you! Apply to adopt London!
Murphy
Meet Murphy the Meatball! He is a senior Pittie who is approximately 7 years old and a whopping 81 lbs. His story is a sad one, but we are turning that around now! This poor guy has been abandoned multiple times and left outside to fend for himself. First abandoned at a car wash and then taken in by someone else just to be chained up outside 24/7 in all kinds of weather. His new "owner" decided he wanted nothing to do with him and considered euthanasia, but instead decided to put him to the streets. He was out in the pouring rain, and being harassed and beaten by homeless people on the street. Thankfully a good samaritan neighbor came to his aid, bringing him out of the rain and keeping him away from other outside dangers in her bathroom, the only available space she had away from her own animals. She reached out to get him help and that's where Samsons squad came in. Less than 24 hours later, he was safe with us. Even though he arrived covered in tar, cigarette burns, and scars he met us with a smile, a wiggle, and so many thank you kisses.
We immediately took this gentle giant to the vet, where he was the bestest boy! Although his ears were badly infected, he allowed the technicians to clean and treat him with no fuss, and asking for booty scratches the whole time! He has a clean bill of health otherwise and is just so happy to be off the streets. While waiting for his foster mom to pick him up, all he wanted to do was be loved on and get belly rubs. Now that he is home with his foster mom and settling in, he just loves to lounge around on his comfy couch and gaze out the window at the birds. He is a very polite and even a house trained boy who would love to spend the rest of his days napping and going for walks, where he will undoubtedly make friends on any path he chooses. Despite his size he is even gentle with all people, even little kids!
Murphy would likely do best in a home as an only pet. A home where he can just be loved on and lounge around with his human. Like to snuggle and sleep in? Murphy is your guy! This boy loves to eat and sleep, with an occasional romp around the house or game of tug before resuming his nap time.
Apply to take this wonderful meatball home today!
Gus & Rocco
"The Barstow Boys"
Meet Gus & Rocco, 2 year old brothers who were rescued from a barn in Barstow on Christmas Eve. These two adorable boys were found together, along with several other dogs who had been abused and neglected. They were very scared and low in confidence. Luckily they were food motivated, and quickly won over by the offer of treats to get them rescued and safe.
Their first two weeks in their foster's home, they were afraid of everything. They didn't know what a leash or car was and they were very insecure. And yet they were still so well behaved, they very calmly and quietly observed everything around them from the safety of their kennels. Over several weeks, the boys have really come out of their shells and grown to be more confident! They are now great walking on the leash and are good with other dogs, with proper introduction. These sweethearts now love human attention and cuddling on the couch! They are very docile and gentle and truly want to trust people again. Vet visits were no problem and thankfully they are both healthy. Some of their new hobbies include laying by the fireplace and sunbathing too. They are both kennel trained and housebroken and love to be rewarded with peanut butter treats and ice cream!
While the boys can be adopted separately, we know they would love to be adopted together. Please make 2023 a great New Year for these angels and apply to adopt them today!
Midnight
Midnight is a sweet 2 year old Jindo mix. Roughly 30 lbs.
She enjoys long walks on the beach and vanilla ice cream, but isn’t fond of cats or the dog meat trade she was rescued from being sold to.
She has been treated for heart worms, and checked over to make sure she is healthy enough to fly. Now all she needs is a foster or furever home to make it happen!
Apply to adopt Midnight before the clock strikes 12!
Chambers
Dear future family,
Hi! my name is Chambers, but you can call me princess Chambers! I’m a sassy 2 yr old lady with the squishiest lil face, and a body made of velvet, or so they tell me.
My foster mom picked me up about a month ago, and I really keep her laughing! I’m getting used to a caring, structured, home environment. I’m slowly but surely getting comfortable & coming out of my shell. I’m full of energy & kisses! My foster mom tells me what a good girl I am walking on my leash, and she can’t believe how smart I am! I’ve mastered sit, look, wait, and touch in the first session! I sit, look, and wait for meals and treats like a champ! We’re working on my manners, cause I really like to jump up, but I take corrections well. They say I’m "food motivated", whatever that means.
I have so much fun with my foster brothers, and would love a playmate or two in my new home! My play style is a little rough sometimes though, so maybe not small children playmates. I really love to fetch & I run really fast & make funny little leaps while I’m playing. I hear my foster mom say how stinking cute it is.
Im still a little anxious, and I think my ideal new family would be active, but with a very mellow energy. Everyone tells me that relaxing on the couch or in bed is the best, but I’m still learning that for myself. I like lots of structure to set me up for wins, and want to be your partner in crime! The more time I can be with you, and out of my crate, the better.
I cant wait to meet you future family, and give you all the love I’ve got!
Chambers

Shorty
Last summer the shelter we work with in South Korea saved 80 dogs from the meat market! Shorty was one of the babies born from a rescued pregnant mama!
Unfortunately 2 of his siblings died of parvo, but this little legged boy is going strong! He is about 7 months old, vaccinated and neutered and ready to board his freedom flight!! He plays well with other dogs and he doesn't let his short little legs slow him down.
We have so many tickets in Jan and Feb, but Shorty needs a committed foster or adopter to board!
Apply to bring Shorty home today!
Bora
Bora is a 2 year old 30ish lb Jindo/lab mix who has been living outdoors in South Korea all of her life. To save her from being sold to the meat market our team has been working together to keep her safe, and she is being kept with a foster in south korea. However she still lives in a kennel outside and it's very cold! One of her kennelmates has been adopted already in LA and the third girl died of negligence after her heartworm treatment. So we are very urgently trying to find a safe place to move Bora to.
She is very sweet with people and other dogs, however due to some food guarding we would prefer her to go to a foster/furever home where she can be the only pet until properly assessed. She finished treatment for heartworms and will be ready to board her freedom flight in February, but needs a safe place to land! Could that be you?
Dolce
Meet Dolce from her litter the "Designer dogs"! She is the most timid of the bunch, but she just needs a loving family to show her life doesnt have to always be scary! And check out those ears, can you even handle the cuteness?
These beautiful jindo mix pups are safe now, in a shelter in South Korea where they were rescued. It has NOT been easy for them! 11 of them were crammed into a tiny crate being sold at the meat market! 11 turned to 7 as they battled parvo after our team rescued them. Now sadly 7 has become 5 as 2 more as the result of more health complications that could have been avoided if they were never in that horrible place. We don't know who their parents are, so we cant know for sure how big they will get but we estimate medium size.
We are so lucky that 5 survived and that they are healthy enough to board their freedom flights! They are about 7 months old now and are fully vaccinated as well as spayed/neutered and microchipped.
