Our Dogs

Cade aka Big Stinky
Heddo! My name is Cade (I also respond to Big Stinky!), I’m a 5 year old, 80ish lb, American Bulldog, and I've been waiting THREE YEARS to be adopted!!! I was rescued by Samson's Sanctuary after I was dumped out of a car in Azusa, CA in April 2022. I may be a big guy, but I have a big heart full of love to give. I love nothing more than to sprawl out on the couch, flip over and let my belly be exposed to the world. It's my favorite position to sleep in, and it shows how comfortable and relaxed I am in my home. Because of my past, I’m a bit cautious around new men. I'm more comfortable at first if a female is around too. It's not that I don't like men, I just need time to warm up to them. Once I trust you, though, I will love you fiercely and never forget you. I'm best bros with all of my foster dads friends! They take me on fun adventures! Oh boy, do I love adventures! I'm always up for a good hike in the great outdoors. I love to be in water! There's so much to explore and so many new smells to sniff. I love getting my nose into everything and finding out what's around the next corner. When I'm out hiking, I like to take my time and really soak it all in. I especially love to find the biggest stick I can, and parade it around like a trophy. I’m independent but I do love spending time together, I prefer my people to be home with me but I don’t need to be in the same room with you always. I will rest my big head on your lap occasionally and I will sit in your lap for butt scratches. I prefer to be pet on my back until I trust you and then you can touch my head. I get along great with other dogs my size and smaller as long as they are friendly, but I do like to chase cats, so we probably wouldn’t be the best roommates. I’d be great in a home with older kids due to my size. One thing you should know about me is that I'm food motivated. If you've got a tasty treat for me, I'll do just about anything you ask and I will drool to prove it. And if someone comes to the door, I'll be sure to let you know. I'm a great guard dog and always on alert. I LOVE squeaky toys and tug of war. I’m also very fond of BONES and frozen tasty treats. I’ve been in foster care for THREE YEARS! But, my foster mom and trainer work hard on teaching me new skills and giving me structure and boundaries. I walk with a loose leash, although i prefer off leash now that I have worked hard on my recall, I am e collar trained, muzzle trained, I know multiple commands, and will work for food. I don’t mean to brag but I am extremely smart and learn very quickly! I enjoy toys that provide mental stimulation and I'd love a yard of my own for my zoomies. But if you'll take me to the park, I love that too! I even have my own social media @CadeTheBulldog ! Check out all my awesome adventures! All I really want is a caring and patient pawrent or family who will love me for who I am and take me on all sorts of adventures, even better if you have previous American Bulldog experience. Can i be your snugglebuddy furever?

Gus
Meet Gus, a 4 year old 65 lb Lab mix who is SO ready to be your best friend furever!! Gus LOVES meeting new people (which you’d never know was one of his biggest fears when first rescued!), going on road trips, and sunbathing! Now that he has worked through most of his past trauma he is the best, most chill housemate, and he loves to go on outings to coffee shops and restaurants. As much as he likes to do fun things, he also likes to snuggle and nap! Gus also loves to be groomed and is VERY treat motivated. He is crate and house trained, knows basic commands, and loose leash walks like a pro! We can’t believe he’s been waiting over TWO YEARS to be adopted! Please read his tearjerking rescue story below, and consider adopting the goodest boy ever, Mister Gus!! Sweet Gus was rescued with his brother from a barn in Barstow on Christmas Eve '22. They were found along with several other dogs who had been abused and neglected. Gus particularly had deep cuts and scars all over his sweet face, from a lifetime of abuse and defending his brother from the larger dogs. And yet, these boys wanted so badly to trust those rescuing them. Who could blame them for being afraid at first? We originally wanted to keep the brothers together, but it was proving to be more detrimental than helpful for them. They were so unhealthily codependent that our trainer said it was like they were “sharing a brain.” Gus' brother was quickly adopted, and when they separated that was tough on Gus for the first few weeks. His foster didn't have the patience to help him through it with at home training, so he went to board and train to work on his fears and separation anxiety. He waited there for over a year and a half before he finally found a committed foster home and he’s been doing wonderful, almost like he’s a completely new dog! Gus has come such a long way in his journey. He's been working very hard with his trainer for over 2 years now! He is the star of every adoption event he attends, giving every person who passes a big smile and wiggle, and 99% of the time he is successful in calling them to him for pets and scratches! Everyone says the same thing “He’s so perfect, how is he not adopted?” We don’t know either!! Gus is a mellow guy who would love a mellow pawrent/family to love him fur the rest of his days. He does well with other calm dogs (No huskies or large energetic dogs), and while he has worked hard on his impulse control on chasing small animals, no cats. He has loved meeting kids at adoption events and we feel confident he would do well in a home with older calm kids who are able to understand a dogs boundaries. Apply to adopt him today! Enchilada
Get ready to spice up your life because Enchilada is here to bring the zest you never knew you needed! This 15-pound firecracker is equal parts snuggly sidekick and sassy little rugrat, with a Lada love to share. Born in South Korea, she spent her early years outside a factory with her siblings, Taquito, Salsa, Ceviche and father Burrito, surviving some very tough times. Despite being mistreated by people who should have protected her and bravely fighting off heartworms, Enchilada never lost her spark. Today, she’s thriving and ready to find her forever family. She’s about 4 years young—old enough to appreciate a cozy nap but always ready to zoom around or play once she feels safe and settled. Enchilada is incredibly loyal, super friendly, and happiest when she can be your tiny shadow, following you from room to room and snuggling close whenever you sit down. She also has the softest fur you’ll ever touch, like a little velvet burrito you’ll never want to stop petting. Enchilada would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel confident and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion who’s as sweet as she is spicy, Enchilada is ready to meet you and remind you every day that you’re her whole world.

Stardust
Meet Stardust, the sweetest, most gentle and calm little lady in LA! Stardust is a 1.5-2 year old jindo mix who came to LA all the way from South Korea. She’s about 35 pounds of pure sweetness - the perfect mid-size gal! She is a quiet and shy girl who is still learning about all the perks of being out of the shelter and in a loving home. She loves to lounge around with her human and is working hard on building confidence outside. Stardust has such a gentle and kind demeanor, we know that once she meets her new PAWrents she will open her heart to them and give them so much love. Stardust had a rough past - she was rescued as a puppy (with her brother Ziggy) from the illegal meat trades in South Korea. She then spent over a year in the Korean shelter, before taking her freedom flight to LA. Because she’s been through so much, Stardust is a very cautious and timid pup who would do best in a patient family who is committed to working through her fear so she can grow into the confident dog we know she can be! A doggy sibling would be a major bonus - Stardust adores other dogs and really opens up when she has a furry friend around. Stardust has the biggest heart and will make the PAWfect addition to her new family. Apply to adopt Stardust today!

Hope
Hi, I’m HOPE, and boy do I hope you’ll give me a chance. I’m a 2 year old, 60 lb male jindo mix! If you don’t know much about my breed, you should definitely look us up, we’re pretty awesome dogs, if I do say so myself. I’d love to tell you a bit more about my personality! I got my name because even though I come from neglect and hardship, I have a sunny disposition and know my family is out there, I just have to have hope. I am a very calm, gentle and loving boy. The volunteers at the shelter say I’m one of their favorites because I always greet them with soft kisses and a warm doggy smile. Some people even say I give off a soothing energy and might make for an awesome emotional support dog if given the proper training! I’ve never lived in a home before, but I think I’d be a bit of a couch potato, I love relaxing and observing. Although walks are my favorite! I love sniffing around and seeing the world. I do great with other dogs, too! I have been through a lot in my short life. I spent the first 1.5 years chained up in a filthy junk yard in South Korea. My “owner” finally surrendered me to Samson’s Sanctuary, and I was so excited to get the care I needed! I am now living at Samson’s shelter partner in Korea, waiting patiently for my hero. In order to take my freedom flight, I need a committed foster or adopter! Please help me get to LA, I promise I’ll repay you with all the love I’ve got (and it’s a lot!).

Burrito
Have you been searching for the best Burrito in LA?! Search no longer, because he’s RIGHT HERE! Meet your new bestie, BURRITO! This sweet and spicy senior has waited his entire life (we think around 8- 10 years) to have a family of his own! Despite being failed by people, Burrito is a happy papa pup with a spunky and silly personality. He adores walks - we like to think his personal motto is “WILL SMOOCH FOR WALKS”. This goofy boy will always keep you smiling, but he also has the biggest heart. Burrito has been through so much hardship in his life and deserves to live out his senior years in a cozy, warm home where he knows he is safe and loved. Could you be his hero? Burrito was rescued (with his four babies - Ceviche, Salsa, Enchilada and Taquito) in South Korea where he lived his entire life chained up a broken down shack outside of a factory, neglected and physically abused. As soon as we rescued Burrito, we took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with heartwom. Luckily we were able to get him treated right away and he is now a healthy and happy little hunk, but he is still waiting for his hero to get him out of the shelter in South Korea. He watched his three daughters take their freedom flight to LA, and he’s left wondering when it will be his turn. Let’s reunite the Perrito family and get Burrito to LA! All we need is a committed foster or adopter! Apply TODAY!

Taquito
Hi, I’m TAQUITO! But you can call me ‘Quito, ToTo, T-T, or cutie patootie with a lil bootie. If you need a lil spunk and a lil spice in your life, I’m your dude! I’m a 4 year old, 17 lb boy from South Korea. I had a rough start to life, but am so ready to put the past behind me and start fresh with my furever family! I’m silly, spunky and OBVIOUSLY adorable - what’s not to love? The shelter volunteers even say I’m one of their favorites, not to brag! Sometimes black dogs like me get overlooked, but I’m hoping my pawfect match will see this post and give me a chance at a new, happy life. I do great with other dogs and I adore humans. I get so excited when a volunteer takes me for a walk so I can get a break from the shelter, but I really wish I could take neighborhood walks every day with a family I can call my own. I promise I’ll be a very good boy who gives you all the love and snuggles. Samson’s Sanctuary rescued me (and 4 other pups) a few months ago. We were living chained up in a broken down shack outside of a factory - neglected and physically abused. As soon as I was safe, they took me to the vet where I was diagnosed with heartworm - but luckily I got treatment right away and am now as healthy as can be! I’ve watched my three sisters take their freedom flight from Korea to LA, and I’m hoping it will be my turn soon. In order to take my freedom flight to LA, I need a committed foster or adopter. Please help me reunite with my sisters and APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT ME TODAY! You won’t regret it! :)

Moose
Hi! I'm Moose! I was so lucky to find one of the Director's of Samson's Sanctuary on one cold, rainy night. When they found me I was infested with fleas and have a little limp which the vets think either I was hit by a car or looking for shelter and hurt myself. I'm about 4 years old, male and around 20lbs. I am looking for a furever home who will love me so deeply! I am a very sweet boy and the more that I open up, the more I love people! Interested in adopting? Apply today!
